Sometimes it takes a good book to help you jump start your successful life journey. The Emotional edge by Crystal Andrus Morissette, is a self-help book that encourages you to take hard a look at your personality. With the tools she provides, you learn how to improve, grow, and start living the authentic life you’ve always wanted. Most self-help books can be difficult to swallow, but this one is definitely worth the read.
As a mental health professional I recommend books to clients often. This book is no different. Within the first chapters Morisette offers a personality quiz, which helps you identify your personality type. Then, she breaks down these personalities into three archetypes, the parent, the child and, the adult. Morisette believes when we are able to break down these archetypes and learn to communicate better we build an authentic happiness. She even uses the lessons of psychologist Freud and Jung to back her argument. To wrap it all up, she gives your great techniques that help overcome barriers, build boundaries, and develop inner strength.
- Channeling your fear
- Meditation scripts to find inner peace
- Learning about self sabotage (it’s a real thing yall)
- Finding your life’s purpose
Overall this book was a great read! There are some drawbacks, and some chapters that leave you rolling your eyes. However, the book as a whole makes those parts easier to swallow. Morisette is knowledgeable and delivers powerful information in a way that is easy to understand. I would recommend this book if you are ready to take that step to developing your inner self.
