Not too long ago, I was having the usual Saturday tea with a friend. We love to chat about life, catch up, and talk about future plans. As we were gabbing it up, she asked me a very interesting question and one that caught me off guard. She asked me “How do you get married?” I giggle and wittingly replied, “you go to the courthouse or spend months planning and blowing a bunch of money on one big day.” Though I thought this was hilarious, she was dead serious. So I pondered this question and realized what she was really asking, “How do you achieve your dreams?”
Now you may be wondering how I went from marriage to dreams. The simple answer is marriage is a dream that many people aspire to. Many people have big dreams that they have no idea how to get to. Really we judge and over think our dreams to the point where we talk ourselves out of them. We struggle with changing our dreams into goals. Well today, I’m going to share with you three big tips to convert your dreams into possibilities.
The greatest things we do in our lives start with a dream. Think about it, they don’t say “the man of your dreams” for no reason. Everything that we desire starts with something we’ve visualized and saw time and time again before it came to fruition. I’m going to let you in on a secret, your dreams are an absolute possibility! The issue is that too often our dreams never make it to paper.
Why is that? It is mostly because we are afraid of the unknown. Naturally what we do not know and what we cannot control is very scary for humans. How does one overcome this?
The things that you want in life have to begin within your own mind. So many times I hear women say “I can’t see myself doing that.” Well if you can’t you won’t. Visualizing what you want in your life is half the battle. Visualization helps your brain create the feeling of achieving your goals. It makes the journey less scary and it helps to write the map of where you are trying to go. The power of imagination can take you further than you previously thought if you allow it to happen.
A commitment is a dedication of your mind, body, spirit to an activity. When you commit to something you make a promise to not give up. You train your whole body, from your brain to your toes, that this is something that is happening and you are doing. So many people never realize how important commitment is. Many people are afraid of the power commitment holds. But your dreams require your promise to see them through to the very end. It is the only way you will muster the dedication dreams require in the toughest of moments.
What you believe will determine what you achieve. This is probably the single most important factor in making a dream work. There is so much power in belief. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t know what to believe in. They have no idea the power of their own mind and so they become stuck. But your mindset determines whether or not you can achieve your dream and maintain it.
These three things are only the tip of the iceberg, but I have to say… they are a pretty big tip! When we think about what we want in life too often we cast it aside because we are scared. We talk ourselves out of our dreams because we don’t see them as a possibility. But, if you can start to visualize, commit, and believe in your dreams then you have already started the battle. Our minds are a very powerful tool and when you learn to use it to your benefit, you can have anything you desire.
So how does one get hitched? She starts with visualization, then she commits herself to finding a mate, then she starts believing that it is possible. Of course, this sounds way too simple and way too good to be true, but our dreams require simplicity. But, once you have this part down pat, the journey becomes so much easier. Share in the comment below what dreams you can apply these tips too.
Until next time…
