Good morning friends and happy Soul Sunday. One of the biggest triumphs in my life was learning how to have patience. It seems like a minute lesson but patience has helped me to push through some tough moments. It’s also led to persistence because when you believe what you want will happen regardless you don’t give up. Having patience is learning to be okay with waiting and delay without becoming upset. So, today I am sharing tips developing patience with you. Join me for another Soul Sunday post below.

I know the feeling of being in a rut and feeling like a complete failure. As I was experiencing what seemed like an existential crisis, my friends appeared to be doing great with new jobs, engagements, and babies. “When did I get so far behind?” I wondered. I’ve been in that place of falling into a dangerous spiral of guilt, self-loathing, and frustration. But truthfully, while I was busy throwing myself a pity party the world was passing me by. The more time I spent wishing my obstacles away, the more I distanced myself from my goal.
The obstacle isn’t what prevents from reaching your goals. Obstacles are inevitable. It’s the way you respond that determines how you move through the tough time. Your biggest success may not come instantly and that’s okay. When you are facing an obstacle having patience will help you to persevere. There are many keys to success and patience is indeed one of the biggest.
How to have Patience:
Don’t Compare Yourself to Others
You will never know what a person does to get where they are, nor will you know how long their time in the spotlight lasts. Comparing yourself to others is the sure fire way to stunt your growth. It’s best to mind your own progress and focus on you. Life isn’t a competition there is no rule that says you have to reach a point at the same time, on, or before someone else.
Remember Your Time Will Come
To have patience is to remember that everything happens in its own time. This may be annoying to hear, because duh you want it now. But, perhaps it isn’t your time to receive what you want now. That is a hard pill to swallow for sure but, remember, the slowest growing trees bear the best fruit. What does this mean? Some of the sweetest things in life take a while to come to fruition, but it does happen when you have patience.
Have A little Faith
The messages you send to yourself are the messages you believe. If you believe nothing will happen, then nothing will happen. To have patience is to tolerate delay, suffering, or trouble. It is to believe that what you want is there and available but, you have to go through something to get it. Having faith or believing that success will eventually come brings ease to your mind.
Stay on Track
On the journey to success, you will get a lot of advice. Some of it will be helpful, some of it won’t be. It’s important to stay on track and remind yourself of what you’re working towards. Don’t let others derail you! Remind yourself of your goals daily and do a little bit every day to get closer to the gold.
Enjoy the Little Things
Look for the little successes that you have had along the way. You may not be where you want to be, but you can certainly enjoy the moment. Recognize that you have come a long way from the starting point. Look for the little changes that you have made thus far. When you enjoy the mini-successes suddenly the big goal isn’t as big as you initially thought. When you have patience you are calm enough to enjoy the little things.
Overall, I am unbothered by the journey because I know I will get there eventually. Now it’s your turn to get unbothered in your journey. and build some patience. I foresee great success in your future, but it will take time.
