Happy Soul Sunday Folks! Every Sunday, I reflect and refocus on what’s important in life. This week I realized how important self-care is. Our bodies are not made to withstand ongoing stress. As a matter of fact, stress is a causing factor for anxiety, depression, cardiovascular issues, and insomnia. It’s important to take care of your body and take care of yourself.
Out of all the things you want to be able to handle in life, stress is one of those things. Those who don’t handle stress well, certainly show it. I can attest to not handling stress well, and it caught up with me not too long ago. Stress will leave you sleep deprived, exhausted, and burned-out. To move forward, I begin thinking about creating a self-care routine. A good routine will give you the chance to take care yourself as you need it. So here are some tips to add to good self-care to your routine.
Get lots of sleep
Sleep does your body good and the average adult should get at least eight hours of sleep. When your body is rested you make better choices and have a better mood. Plus it’s easier to wake up earlier in the morning. So get some rest and give your body what it craves.
Self Care by Reflecting often
Take the time to reflect on where you are, where you’ve come from, and where you’re going. You can also affirm yourself and the things that you do well. A reflection is the perfect boost of confidence to get you through tough moments and the whole day.
Self Care with Eating Well
Good food will make your body feel like a million bucks. You should eat the appropriate portions of fruits, vegetables, and proteins at the appropriate times of the day. Good food feeds your brain and heart all while keeping you healthy and feeling great.
Make a Self Care Plan
You’d be surprised how accomplished you feel when you get to check things off of the list. Having a plan about how you want the day, week, or month to go makes you more deliberate. It also gets you closer to your overall dreams. Write done what you want, what you need to do, and dreams and then go from there.
There are many, many other ways to take of yourself and care of yourself. You should keep in mind that self-care will save your heart. Every day that you deliberately de-stress your body will thank you for it. What are some ways that you self-care? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
