Did you know that reciting a simple phrase could help transform your life? That is the power of an affirmation, and guess what!? Not only are affirmations free, but you can do them anytime you want, and anywhere you want. Affirmations help you change negative thinking into positive thinking and brings you steps closer to the goals you want to achieve.
Too many times real world dwellers get caught up in the “I can’t, I’m not, I don’t,” leaving them stuck in a phase of life. Does that sound familiar? Maybe you’ve had a hard time dating and you find yourself saying “I am undateable.” Or maybe you don’t make as much money as your peers and you tell yourself “I’m not doing as well as others.” Perhaps, you are just not quite where you want to be and you think to yourself ” I don’t think I am ever going to get there.” These are all examples of negative self-talk, and it’s this very talk that is holding young adults down. Remember when you think it, you believe it, so what you say to yourself will transform your attitude about life.
Let me be clear, affirmations should not be delusional. It’s not like you’ll say I am a millionaire, and poof a million dollars appears. But if you say to yourself “I am already rich with love, happiness, and honor” or “I have the skills it takes to grow wealth” then you’ll be more inclined to take the necessary steps to works towards your millions. With affirmations, you are reminding yourself of the attributes you already have.
Writing affirmations are really simple:
Find Phrases You Love
You want to find phrases that you want to repeat to yourself or make your own. Make sure the phrases you choose are in the present (I am healing vs I will be healed).
Say Affirmations Consistently
Next you get consistent. To get used to positive self-talk, you say the phrases to yourself daily and whenever you need a booster. Try and be mindful and in the moment when you are repeating your affirmations.
Remember to have patience
It will definitely take some time to change, “I can’t” to “I can.” Have faith in yourself, because you can, and you will!
Affirmations are one of those things that will only work if you believe them to work. Sometimes it’s the small changes that make a world of difference. So start today. Start making changes by treating your mind right. Tell yourself something positive and get the ball rolling towards your life goals.
